'Day One' Blog,  The Impossible Love List

Love Of

Love Of

Life is about God,
…about love of God
Life is about people,
…about love of people
~Mark 12:30-31~

As I sit with the description of love found in 1 Corinthians 13,
I see a beautiful list of………..
……..impossibilities.

It strikes me that each bit implies I will face moments that would illicit a response other than one that would express love of God and people. Why is God eager for me to know that love is patient, if He isn’t aware that impatience will be a temptation… or that love bares all things, if my tendency isn’t going be to bail when a relationship gets difficult? We are  much more familiar with what love does not look like than what it does. And God could have effectively taught us with a list like:

Are you unkind?
You have not love.
Do you hold offenses over someone?
You have not love.
Are you covetous?
You have not love.

and on and on………to which I would and do exclaim,
“Ahhhhhhhh!!!!! I HAVE NOT LOVE!”

But…….. I’m going to say that God is probably not as interested in telling me what I’m not, than He is longing to reveal who He is.

God is love.
…and love is…

patient
kind
does not envy
is not boastful, arrogant or rude
does not insist on its own way
is not irritable or resentful
does not rejoice in wrongdoing
rejoices with the truth
bears all things
believes all things
hopes all things
suffers all things

…. LOVE NEVER ENDS.

Life is about God, about love of God… heart, mind, soul & strength….He gets it all. And in that, He comes alive in me, His love penetrating the surface of my being & going forth to those around me….so my people experience Him….they experience LOVE. I really WANT this….so I make a beeline for the Source of Love.

Anyone who does not love,
does not know God,
because GOD IS LOVE.
~1 John 4:8~

    Hi my friend!
I so appreciate the way the Lord gives you words to express what He wants to say. Do you remember when the two disciples were on the road to Emmaus and how when Jesus opened the scriptures to them their hearts were warmed! Well that’s what your words do. They warm my heart!!! Thanks !!!!!!Hope all is well with you and you are going to have some down time soon. Had lunch with Susie a couple of weeks ago and we thought of you, With love, Jackie
