The Christ Child ~ Son of Man – Dec. 06

Meditation for the Soul ~

For as Jonah became a sign to the people of Nineveh,
so will the Son of Man be to this generation.
~ Luke 11:30 ~
The Son of Man came not to be served but to serve,
and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
~ Matthew 20:28 ~

Reflection for the Mind ~

Jesus referred to Himself most often as the Son of Man. What was He trying to tell us by using that title time and again? Only a man without blemish or spot (1 Peter 1:19) could be offered as an acceptable sacrifice for the sins of humankind. And of course no ordinary human had or would ever live a sinless life. So God, driven by His love for us, saw fit to send His Son to earth to be born in the likeness of man, (Philippians 2:7).

Jesus went out of His way to identify with us even in the title He most often chose for Himself. The birth of Jesus was the birth of the Son of Man. There in the manger lay the fulfillment of the vision given to the prophet Daniel some six-hundred years before:
and behold, with the clouds of heaven
there came one like a son of man,
and he came to the Ancient of Days
and was presented before him.
And to him was given
dominion and glory and a kingdom,
that all peoples, nations,
and languages should serve him;
his dominion is an everlasting dominion,
which shall not pass away,
and his kingdom one that shall
not be destroyed, (Daniel 7:13-14).

Response for the Heart ~

There are so many names given to You throughout Your Word. That You would identify with me as the Son of Man is something I don’t pretend to comprehend. But I’m in awe of You, sinless Son of Man. All praise to You Jesus – the One who has been given the name above every other name!

Incredible that Jesus was most often called the Son of Man. How much he loved us to become flesh and speak to mankind directly and leave His everlasting words for us. ❤️
