Besides Me There is No Savior – Dec. 02

Meditation for the Soul ~

”You are my witnesses,” declares the Lord,
“and my servant whom I have chosen,
that you may know and believe me
Before me no god was formed,
nor shall there be any after me.
I, I am the Lord,
and besides me there is no savior.
~ Isaiah 43:10-1~

Reflection for the Mind ~

The Christmas story exists because of humanity’s need for a SAVIOR. It is God’s answer in response to that need. Christ entering the world through the womb of a virgin, invoking the glorious singing of hosts of angels, was the way in which God bridged the gap opened up because of our sin. This plan was put into place from eternity. It was not the Godhead’s top pick from a list of possibilities. It was the ONLY way in which we would be able to  reestablish relationship with our Maker. So for many, many generations, faithful men and women hoped and waited for the coming of this Promised One.

The birth of our Savior is one in a glorious sequence of historical events that reveal the radical love God has for humanity. There is not a person walking the planet who does not experience the overflow of that love. But benefiting from the love of God is not the same thing as embracing God’s gift to us through the life, death, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus Christ. That comes through faith in Jesus and the surrendering of ourselves to His Lordship. Is Jesus Lord of your life? If He is, you are among the multitude of witnesses who testify that the Christ Child is in fact, the Savior of the world! As Christmas approaches may we seize every opportunity to point people to the only One who can save them!

Response for the Heart ~

Lord, I draw near to You as I will for the next four weeks to ponder the miracle of the birth of Jesus. Thank You for sending Your Son into the world to save! Speak to me about things I don’t yet understand. Waken in me a deeper passion for You that I didn’t know I could have. You have gone to unimaginable lengths to save my life! Help that reality inform my responses to all that happens today. And please Lord, may I be a witness who declares without hesitation that life is found in You and You alone.

Praying that many people read this blog and let the reality of the incredible choice that God made to send His Son resonate in their hearts this Christmas. And Lord, help those who already know and believe that Jesus is Lord, reestablish relationship with our Maker in a profound way. Thank you, Anne.

Thanks so much, Julie! I pray God would pull all of us a little closer to Him as we move toward Christmas! I know it's His heart to do that!

"There is not a person walking the planet who does not experience the overflow of that love. But benefiting from the love of God is not the same thing as embracing God’s gift to us through the life, death, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus Christ. That comes through faith in Jesus and the surrendering of ourselves to His Lordship." So clear a distinction! Yes, Lord, "waken in me a deeper passion for You that I didn’t know I could have." I want more of You, Lord. Help me surrender to You in every occurance today. Help me be aware of how Your life, death, and resurrection informs mine!
